CLUB HISTORY The Club was founded in 1960 and is the longest running Basset Hound Club in Australia. The Club's first Championship show was held in November 1961, was judged by Mr Peter Gorie from New Zealand, and was opened by the then "Miss Australia", Miss Tania Verstac. Best In Show was Ch. Carillon Dorcas and Runner up was Huckleberry Everglades. New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria all have their respective clubs and conduct Championship and Open shows, and other events throughout the year. If you are looking for or thinking about buying a Basset puppy, your State's club, who should mainytain a register of person looking to purchase a Basset Hound. The Basset Hound Club of NSW have always held their annual shows on Easter Sunday and the Sunday of Labout Day weekend. Both of these events are Championship shows, and the club always tries to hold an Open Show in conjunction with the October show. The Open Show is held for the benefit of aspiring Hound Judges.
